Preventative Care
We want to see your pet live a long, happy, and healthy life. That is why we believe in preventive care and make it our number one priority.
Regular wellness examinations, at least once or twice a year, are crucial for keeping your pet in optimal health. With routine examinations, health problems can be detected and treated in the early stages. Remember, your pet ages at a much faster rate than you do. Receiving an exam once a year may be equivalent to a human getting a physical exam every 5-10 years. Yearly exams are your pet's most important preventive medicine. During a yearly exam, we check the pet's heart, ears, eyes, teeth, skin, nutrition, muscles and joints, and discuss behavioral concerns. By doing this, we can detect diseases early in their course which allows us to limit the effects on your pet. We have a fully stocked in house pharmacy should your pet ever need medication. In circumstances where a medication is needed that we do not carry, we will make arrangements to get your pet his or her medication. Comprehensive Examinations: Yearly exams are your pet's most important preventive medicine. During a yearly exam, we check the pet's heart, ears, eyes, teeth, skin, nutrition, muscles and joints, and discuss behavioral concerns. By doing this, we can detect diseases early in their course which allows us to limit the effects on your pet. Vaccinations: We develop a vaccination schedule based on your pet's individual needs. These include: Bordetella (kennel cough), Rabies, DHPP (canine distemper/parvo combination) for dogs/puppies, FVRCP (feline/distemper combination), Rabies, and FeLV (feline leukemia) for cats/kittens. We do not believe in over-vaccinating pets and will carefully tailor a vaccine protocol to suit your pet’s age and lifestyle. Microchipping Microchip placement is the newest form of pet identification that we offer to aid in the safe return of a lost pet. The microchip is a small computer chip that is inserted under the skin using a needle. When the pet is scanned for a microchip, a number is obtained. A national hot line is available for veterinarians, and other local authorities. The chip number can then be used in order to locate the pet's owner by telephone.
